This Week’s One-Hit Wonder (OHW) is ‘Hot Rod Lincoln’ (Adelaide #8 1972) by Commander Cody & His Lost Planet Airmen. Formed in Michigan in 1967, they performed a style of Country, Rock and Roll, Western Swing, Rockabilly and Jump-Blues together on a foundation of Boogie-Woogie piano. The band was lead by pianist and vocalist George Frayne IV (1944 – 2021). The song was written by Charlie Ryan and first released in 1955.
